Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has credited new coach Ruud van Nistelrooy with inspiring striker Marcus Rashford to a more lively performance in their 1-0 friendly defeat to Rosenborg on Tuesday.
Rashford had a disappointing 2023-24 season, with personal performances, off-field drama and a bad attitude, leading to him being left out of England’s Euro 2024 runners-up squad.
Then in the off-season, United shook up their coaching staff after forward coach Bennie McCarthy’s contract expired and he left to pursue his dream of becoming a head coach, so Ten Hag brought in former Red Devils striker Van Nistelrooy, who scored 150 goals in 219 matches, to replace him.
